Japan’s government plan to address labor shortage
The Japanese government has unveiled its new plan to compensate for the labor shortage in the country, which will increase the number of eligible industries to attract skilled long-term workers from the current two to eleven.
According to this plan, skilled workers employed in the housing sector, as well as the agriculture and food industries, can also benefit from the advantage of receiving unlimited residence in Japan.
This plan is designed to encourage skilled foreign workers to reside long-term in Japan in order to solve the problem of labor shortage, which has arisen due to the declining birth rate in the country.
This plan, prepared by the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, was presented to the party’s specialized committee for discussion and review on Tuesday, in order to address any potential shortcomings before the approval process begins in the upcoming June cabinet meetings.
