The Iranian national football team won against Hong Kong in the return match of the second round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with a score of 4-2. Iran scored two goals in each half and conceded one goal.

Both of Iran’s goals in the first half were scored by Mehdi Taremi from the penalty spot. He managed to complete a hat-trick in the second half, bringing his total national team goals to 49.

The fourth goal was scored by Sardar Azmoun, which was his 53rd national team goal.
