Carbon monoxide poisoning of 44 students in the girls’ dormitory of Shahid Beheshti University
Following the carbon monoxide poisoning of 44 students in the girls’ dormitory of Shahid Beheshti University, Iranian media have reported that the university’s student affairs deputy has resigned.
Tehran’s fire department announced that this morning, due to a technical fault in the boiler room of a girls’ dormitory belonging to Shahid Beheshti University, 44 students suffered poisoning from gas inhalation.
According to the report by IRIB news agency, this dormitory is located on Daneshjou Boulevard in Velenjak.
Jalal Maleki, spokesperson for Tehran’s fire department, said all these students were evacuated from the site and handed over to emergency services. He mentioned that the dormitory might be sealed until the boiler system’s fault is fixed.
Tehran’s emergency services also stated that their personnel went to the scene after receiving reports of carbon monoxide poisoning.
