Islamic Republic Newspaper: Mr. IRIB, why are you censoring the suppression of the Chinese people?
The Islamic Republic newspaper discusses the reasons behind the anti-government protests of people in several Chinese cities in recent weeks, presenting various narratives.
A noteworthy point is how the news of the Chinese people’s protests and their suppression by the government is reflected in Iranian media. Our national media and official state news agencies unfortunately have passed over this issue with indifference, even though, according to what the Constitution of the Islamic Republic stipulates, we cannot remain indifferent to the oppression of people in other countries.
In this regard, there is no difference between Muslims and non-Muslims, although the main event, which was the burning and death of some people in a fire and the subsequent protests and demonstrations, took place in Urumqi, the center of the Muslim-majority Xinjiang region, and spread from there to other parts of China. Unfortunately, Iranian state media handle the news about China, Russia, and Afghanistan with supportive considerations for the governments of these countries.
