Summoning of Jahan Sanat Newspaper’s Chief Editor to Tehran’s Prosecutor’s Office for Charges Explanation

The chief editor of Jahan Sanat newspaper was summoned to Tehran’s prosecutor’s office for indictment explanation.

The Judiciary Media Center wrote:

Following the suspension of Jahan Sanat newspaper by the Press Supervisory Board and the referral of the case to the judicial authority, the chief editor of this newspaper was summoned this morning to Tehran’s prosecutor’s office to provide explanations and was indicted.

It is noteworthy that after the publication of an article in the November 19th issue of Jahan Sanat newspaper, which accused law enforcement and security forces of the country, the Supervisory Board, with a majority vote and based on the note of Article 12 of the Press Law, issued a ruling to suspend the newspaper and decided to refer the case of the violation to the judicial authority for further investigation.

The author of the aforementioned article was also summoned to the prosecutor’s office and appeared there today.
