The new resolution of the Supreme Council of Cyberspace allows foreign platforms through internal shells.

Seyed Mohammad Amin Agha-Miri, Secretary of the Supreme Council and Head of the National Cyberspace Center, announced the resolutions of the ninety-sixth session of the Supreme Council of Cyberspace regarding the possibility of accessing foreign platforms with governance-compliant mechanisms, the organization of social messaging platforms, and the establishment of a national and comprehensive data system.

According to the resolution of the Supreme Council of Cyberspace, individuals, legal entities, and the private sector, both domestic and foreign, can provide services to the public by presenting governance-compliant shells and obtaining legal permits.

This action, which was previously experienced with Hotgram and Golden Telegram in the country, creates new conditions under which foreign platforms and services that could not operate directly in Iran can operate in a new format while maintaining all their services and platform capabilities.

In the first resolution of the Supreme Council of Cyberspace, sector regulators are required to identify and provide conditions for the operation of foreign platforms and services that can offer services in the form of shells, to create diversity in the consumer basket of users with governance-compliant mechanisms and with the aim of meeting the needs of the people.

This resolution has announced that sector regulators are required to identify popular foreign services and platforms within one month in their regulatory domain and examine the technical possibility for users to access useful foreign services.

According to this resolution, the National Cyberspace Center is also required to provide the necessary permit for the activity of the private sector to sector regulators after review.
