Suspicious Death of Mansoureh Sagvand in Iran
Official authorities in Iran have announced the death of a female student who had previously collaborated with the Iranian police as a volunteer. Some sources describe the death of this girl as suspicious and say that she had stopped cooperating with the police after the protests last autumn and had supported the protesters. For this reason, she had been detained for a while and even threatened with death. The chief judge of Ilam province has denied summoning or arresting her.
The emergency department of Abadan city in Ilam province and the officials of Hazrat Rasool Akram Hospital in this city confirmed the news of the death of Mansoureh Sagvand, an 18-year-old student of law at Payam Noor University in Abadan. They stated that the cause of her death was cardiac and respiratory arrest.
Tasnim News Agency, close to security sources in Iran, also confirmed on Tuesday, 15th of Khordad, quoting the governor of Khorramabad, that this girl had a connection with the police and said that she was not a member of the law enforcement personnel and had only collaborated as a police assistant in the past for a short period.
