Commander of the National Traffic Police: 373 killed and 10,500 injured in Nowruz accidents

In the Nowruz accidents, 373 people died and 10,500 were injured, according to the country’s traffic police commander.

The country’s traffic police commander stated that unfortunately, since the beginning of the Nowruz plan, we have lost 373 of our compatriots in accidents and said that this statistic will definitely increase because some of the injured who are in hospitals may unfortunately die and be added to this number.

He continued, more than 10,500 of our compatriots were injured in these few days, and approximately 15 to 20 percent of these injured people will become disabled. Therefore, I urge Nowruz travelers to definitely adhere to the rules.

Momeni pointed out that 44 percent of the accidents during this period were due to not paying attention to the front and said that part of this lack of attention is related to using mobile phones while driving, as unfortunately, drivers use their phones while driving. Additionally, on the roads, 30 percent of accidents were rollovers, which are caused by fatigue, drowsiness, lack of sufficient rest, and haste in driving.
