The European Union lifted the sanctions on the company Arvan Cloud
The European Union removed the name of the technology company Arvan Cloud, which was added to the EU’s list of human rights sanctions against individuals and entities affiliated with the Islamic Republic less than 17 months ago.
According to what was published on Friday, April 7, in the official journal of the European Union, this decision was made a day earlier, and the company was removed from the EU’s sanctions list.
Arvan Cloud was among the companies that were placed on the EU’s sanctions list in late November 2022 due to its role in imposing internet restrictions and aiding in the suppression of protests and human rights violations in Iran, along with the Basij Cooperative Foundation and the Press TV network.
In late November 2019, following street protests in dozens of Iranian cities due to the sudden increase in gasoline prices, access to the global internet network was only about five percent for at least five days.
The Islamic Republic, with the support of companies like Arvan Cloud, was able to create conditions for completely cutting off the Iranian people’s access to the internet during the November 2019 protests.
