Iranian Independent Filmmakers Association: Boycott the Fajr Festival
In a statement, the Iranian Independent Filmmakers Association called on filmmakers, producers, and cinema representatives from around the world to stand with the people of Iran, be their voice, and convey the message of ‘Woman, Life, Freedom’ to the world.
This association has described the Fajr Festival as an inseparable part of the Islamic Republic’s repressive cultural policies and has asked all cinema stakeholders to join them in boycotting it to expose the regime’s propaganda tactics.
The Iranian Independent Filmmakers Association also pointed to the harsh conditions of Jafar Panahi, Mohammad Rasoulof, Taraneh Alidoosti, and Mojgan Ilanloo in prison and the threat of execution they face, stating that any participation in the Fajr Festival will be seen as support for the government.
