Iranian Red Crescent Opens Case to Search for 100 Missing Afghan Refugees at Borderlines

The Iranian Red Crescent has opened a case to search for 100 missing Afghan refugees at the border lines.

Behnam Saeedi, the Deputy for International Affairs and Human Rights of the Iranian Red Crescent, has stated that a case has been opened to search for 100 Afghan refugees, mostly children, who have disappeared in the border areas between Iran and Afghanistan.

It has been reported that these refugees disappeared in the first half of this year along the border lines between the two countries.

He told ISNA news agency that after the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan last year, the Search and Family Reunification Department of the Iranian Red Crescent has faced a significant increase in requests to find missing persons.

Mr. Saeedi said that cases to search for missing Afghan migrants on other migration routes from Iran to other countries are also open.

During illegal border crossings and movement in Iran’s border provinces, family members are sometimes forced to separate.

Iran is the first country for refugees who intend to go to Turkey and then to European countries.
