Khatami: 80% of the Iranian people do not care about the ruler’s identity

Mohammad Khatami, the former President of the Islamic Republic, pointed out the economic situation and crises in Iran, saying that 80% of the Iranian people are not politically inclined in a significant way, and it does not matter much to them who the ruler is or how they are; they just want to live, have security, and a brighter outlook for the future.

Khatami added that in the years following the revolution until now, the crisis that the country is currently facing and the threats that exist are unprecedented.

Khatami likened the Islamic Republic to a towering tree and said that this towering tree, although it can withstand drought and storms for years, today the internal and external threats and problems are so numerous and large that there is a fear that this towering tree may suddenly wither and fall, which is a day we hope never comes.
