Saudi Newspaper’s Analysis on the Decisive Clash Between Iran and the USA
A Saudi newspaper described the match between Iran and the USA in the World Cup as decisive for advancing to the next round.
On the eve of the World Cup match between the national football teams of Iran and the USA, the Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiya published a report on the subject.
The newspaper wrote that Iran and the USA, after 24 years since their first World Cup encounter, will face each other again today, Tuesday, in a significant and decisive match for advancing to the knockout stage. Therefore, this anticipated clash will be a repeat of the 1998 World Cup game between the two rivals.
After a victory in extra time against the Welsh in the second round, Iran, led by Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz, is counting on the high morale of its players to reach the next stage in their sixth World Cup appearance.
Gregg Berhalter, the head coach of the USA team, emphasized that politics has nothing to do with the match, and that his team, like Iran, needs three points to advance.
The American coach expects this match to be tough and intense because both teams want to advance to the next round.
