A senior member of the Motalefeh Party said that because the police did not have weapons by the leader’s order, 40 of them were martyred.

Hamidreza Taraqi stated that unlike in 2019, when the government ordered the crisis to be quickly resolved and many were killed, this time the Supreme Leader did not allow the police to confront the people with weapons. This decision resulted in more than 2,500 police officers being injured and over 40 of them being martyred, as they did not have orders to shoot.
