Supporting the people of Iran is a priority for the Biden administration
A press briefing by Ned Price, the spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State, was held ahead of Joe Biden’s adventurous and intense international trip. The U.S. President has embarked on a long journey to Egypt, Cambodia, and Indonesia to participate in three major summits: the Climate Change Conference, the ASEAN Summit, and the G20 Summit.
In this press briefing, regarding issues related to Iran, Ned Price prioritized explaining the U.S. government’s policies in support of the Iranian people under current conditions and amidst the ongoing civil protests. Even questions directed at him about the important upcoming meeting of Robert Malley with officials from three European countries were steered by him towards the topic of supporting the Iranian people.
Finally, under pressure from reporters, he spoke about the recent report by the International Atomic Energy Agency and called on the Iranian regime to fully cooperate with the agency.
We should soon expect announcements of new plans by the U.S. and Europe concerning Iran. The issue of Iran’s cooperation with Russia in the invasion of Ukraine will not easily be sidelined.
