The Economist website reported that Iran has enriched 400 kilograms of uranium to 60 percent.
The Economist wrote that the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency, the nuclear watchdog of the United Nations, will hold a meeting on Monday in Vienna, with Iran at the top of its agenda.
The report continues, stating that the latest report from the agency indicates that Iran has enriched more than 400 kilograms of uranium to 60 percent purity, a level that, if further enriched to weapon-grade, would be sufficient to construct approximately ten nuclear bombs.
This stockpile has increased by about 50 percent since February.
Earlier this year, Donald Trump gave Iran a two-month deadline to negotiate a new nuclear agreement, one that would replace the JCPOA, which Trump withdrew from in 2018.
According to Trump, this deadline ends on June 12th. Since April, five rounds of fruitless negotiations have been held between the U.S. and Iran.
The two sides still have deep disagreements over the issue of Iran’s continued uranium enrichment under the framework of the new agreement.
