The third leader in the history of Communist China has passed away
Jiang Zemin, the third leader in the history of Communist China who came to power after Deng Xiaoping, the leader of Chinese reforms, has died at the age of ninety-six.
Many remember him for the bitter events following the public uprising of the Chinese people in 1989, which occurred just before his leadership began. Increased social control and the hardships faced by political and student activists during his era were significant. On the other hand, today as he has passed away, many mourn him as a grandfather figure and are preparing for his funeral. Many Chinese have already rushed to florists and placed orders for the customary flowers used in Chinese ceremonies.
However, it should be noted that Xi Jinping’s COVID-19 regulations have made it impossible for many Chinese to attend Jiang Zemin’s funeral. Apart from that, recent reports indicate the issuance of strange and unprecedented orders sent via mobile phone to many Chinese, instructing them to stay at home and lock their doors.
